Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii inspects SK Anchi, allocates additional funds for urgent upgrades
Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii has raised concern over deteriorating school facilities following inspections across several schools in his constituency, noting that conditions at Sekolah Kebangsaan Anchi (SK Anchi) have worsened and now require urgent upgrading and repair works.
During a site visit to SK Anchi yesterday, Yii said he has maintained close engagement with the school since taking office in 2022, providing assistance through annual allocations to improve its facilities.
However, his latest inspection revealed that the condition of several classrooms has significantly deteriorated and requires immediate attention.
He stressed that it is unacceptable for students to study in unsafe and uncomfortable environments, adding that education is the foundation of the nation’s future and children deserve a safe and conducive place to learn and grow.
In response, Yii announced an additional allocation of RM100000, bringing the total funding for the school under the Rural Transformation Programme 2026 (RTP 2026) to RM200000 through two separate allocations. He said the additional funding is a special top up beyond the annual allocation to expedite the repair works.
According to him, the initial RM100000 will be used to refurbish the roof and ceilings of an entire block, covering four classrooms in Block A, as well as the counselling room, music room, art room and sports equipment store.
These classrooms have experienced roof leaks since 2022, with visible severe ceiling damage and widespread deterioration. The affected classrooms have been taken out of use to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The additional RM100000 will be utilised for a full upgrade of another building, including roof and ceiling repairs, as well as converting Computer Room B into a Special Education Integrated Programme (PPKI) classroom. The school currently has 21 special needs students who urgently require a safer and more suitable learning environment.
Yii noted that SK Anchi, with its long history of over a century, holds significant value for the local community. However, he emphasised that the age of the school should not be an excuse to neglect its infrastructure.
He added that the project is not merely about basic repairs, but an important investment in the education and future of the next generation. Yu said he will continue to monitor the progress closely to ensure all upgrading works are implemented smoothly, allowing students to study in a safer and more conducive environment.
