Sarawak should not give up Immigration rights
State Assemblyman Piasau, Datuk Sebatian Ting expressed his disappointment on the statement of UMNO Datuk Mohd Nazri Aziz asking Sabah and Sarawak to give up the Immigration rights to be equal partners.
He said it is most unethical of him if he feigned ignorant of the Malaysia Agreement 63 as he is a lawyer himself. Either he is pretending not to know or plain stupid or have no regards to the feelings and hopes of East Malaysians.
“The way he spoke and this is not the first time, he talk without seriously thinking of the implication and the hurt of others. This is the time, we East Malaysians must stand together and ‘fight’ him out whatever it takes. His bullying attitude has to end and if he really is that stupid, we do not welcome such people to Sarawak,” he said.
Ting said he need to teach Nazri some history facts, “During the discussion on the formation of Malaysia, one of the Very important safeguards for Sarawak and Sabah was the Immigration Autonomy for these two nations. This was clearly stated in MA63. Sarawak and Sabah signed this important MA63 as Nations not as states. Sarawak and Sabah are different not like any of the States in the Federal States of Malaya. These states did not sign the MA63 nor were the individual States consulted on the formation of Malaysia.
The reason was not difficult to find or guess. Both Sarawak and Sabah leaders then wanted maximum protection for the people of the then two nations, Sarawak and Sabah from the influx of undesirable people from the Federated States of Malaya, especially those extremists, religious bigots and those who continue to insult the intelligence of the people of Sarawak and Sabah, including with the intention to sow disunity and promote hatre amongst the people of Sarawak and Sabah. They are definitely not welcomed in Sarawak.
Over the years Sarawak is still very peaceful and people live in Peace and Harmony, because of our desires to live in unity, peace and in harmony. Part of the reason is the strict enforcement of our Immigration Autonomy and Control.
Should we now be forced to give up our Immigration Autonmy, just because Nazri said so? He thought and must have continued to think that we are all stupid and we cannot think for ourselves.
It is extremely embarrassing for him that we have just celebrate Malaysia Day and a former senior minister can spew such nonsense,” he added,.
Ting called to the Education Minister to work to give the right history on Malaysia so that the present generation like Nazri and the future generation will learn the facts on Malaysia. This has prove that a number of West Malaysian and even our own younger generation are not aware of the formation of Malaysia.
The late Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, he pointed out, touched us with his crusade of Sarawak Autonomy and the people of Sarawak never before stood together, Solidly and in Unity, voted the then BN 72 State Assemblyman out of 82 States in 2016 Sarawak Election.
Sarawak must always come first and it is timely for us Sarawakians to remind ourselves that we must be united in our journey to fight for our Sarawak rights,
The Malayans and West Malayan parties do not have the best interest for Sarawak and Sabah. They have their own agendas which are totally different from us.
Fellow Sarawakians, let us remind ourselves that we are Sarawakians and Sarawak will and must always come first.
