Robert Lau on Act 355: good decision as BN still practices the policy of consensus
This is the correct decision. It is a good decision as BN still practices the policy of consensus. Malaysia is a multi racial multi religious moderate society. The people will have to speak up and make a stand to defend this position.
I am happy to note that SUPP has been standing by this principle and oppose the Bill right from the start.
This is even more important for Sarawak. Sarawak does not have a state religion. This was the agreed principle when Malaysia was formed.
Religion should be kept out of politics.
Politics concerns and governs human society.
Religion concerns and governs the relationship between man and his god. It is personal.
In any society human welfare is the priority and that has to be put in order first. Religious principles can act as guiding principles but not as the law or authority. This is because religion is based on faith. And faith is very personal and subjective. Whereas human society needs objectivity and certainty to operate.
