SUPP CENTRAL YOUTH PRESS STATEMENT

SUPP Central Youth strongly condemns the announcement by PAS that its MPs will table a Bill to allow the Kelantan state government to implement Hudud laws. During the last General Elections, SUPP Youth had on many occasions, warned the public that concept of the Welfare State championed by PAS and supported by DAP was merely for publicity purposes to hood wink the Chinese and non-Muslim Bumiputra voters into trusting and voting for Pakatan Rakyat.

Despite SUPP Central Youth’s numerous warnings, DAP Sarawak played a deaf ear and continued to defend PAS and ignored all the warnings on the grounds that those were merely SUPP Central Youth’s rhetorical strategies. SUPP Central Youth is once again proven right when PAS declared its ambitious agenda of implementing their Hudud enactment, pushing Malaysia one step closer towards becoming an Islamic State.

SUPP Central Youth Secretary General Wilfred Yap regrets the deafening silence of DAP YBs from Sarawak on this issue and strongly condemns PAS’s announcement to move a bill in parliament to implement Hudud in Kelantan. “DAP must now be held accountable for PAS’s move and DAP Sarawak must apologize to the Chinese and the non-Muslim Bumiputra communities in Sarawak for having defended PAS by claiming that PAS had become more liberal and would respect the rights of non-Muslims”, he said.

Meanwhile, SUPP Central Youth strongly opposes the move by PAS on Hudud on the grounds that it is not suitable for the present time and age, in view of the multi-racial composition of Malaysia and is not in the best interest for this country. SUPP Youth’s position on Hudud is clear and SUPP Youth will not compromise on its stand that Hudud has no place in Malaysia.

On a related matter, SUPP Central Youth Secretary General Wilfred Yap also strongly condemns the abdication of responsibility of the PKR led Selangor Government to return the 300 Malay and Iban Bibles seized by Selangor Islamic Religious Authority (JAIS).

The inaction of DAP on the impending implementation of Hudud in PAS led Kelantan and bible issue in PKR led Selangor clearly shows that DAP is a ‘toothless tiger’ within Pakatan Rakyat and Wilfred Yap is urging the people of Sarawak to teach DAP Sarawak a lesson through their votes in the coming State Elections.

“Judging by DAP Sarawak’s incapability in handling these two issues and how it has failed miserably in defending the interests of our people, I can only conclude in such a way that any vote for them is by all means a complete waste for voters’ trust has been betrayed”, added Yap.
