Dr Sim; Youths should meet challenges to better themselves

Youths should meet challenges to better themselves instead of being laid back so that they may one day retire without any regrets.

Giving this advice to the JCI youth at the 60^th anniversary and 61^st installation and award banquet on Sunday night, Minister for Local Government, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian said he believed in facing challenges to improve one self.

Giving a brief history of how he returned back to Sarawak despite doing well in Australia as a cardiologist, Dr. Sim said he realized that the JC1 motto was also to serve the people by providing development opportunities that empowers young people to create positive change.

Encouraging them to get more youth to join and through a vast networking, Dr. Sim said they could do wonders to serve the community as a whole.

“Do not belittle yourself. Go for that change to a more positive one and always offer others the opportunity when you yourself have the opportunity to do better,” he said.

As time is short, Dr. Sim said to do good and be innovative will bring positive change for Sarawak.

Dr. Sim added that as one aged, one can look back at the contribution and be proud about it. He said he would not want to go all out at age 75 as it was to relax and reflect the good things he wanted to do during his young days.

During the function, the incoming president JC1 Kuching, Thomas Teo was installed and there was an induction of 60 new members.

In his address, Teo said he would focus in helping the members expand their business opportunity and build a massive network all in the effort of building a mature and established local Junior Chamber. He said they would strive to help more young entrepreneurs achieve their goals.
