Celebrating the party’s 57th anniversary

Minister of Local Government, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian who is also the President of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) called the youths in the party to work hard to prepare for the next general election, which may be less than two years from now as apart from Serian, he would want to field in all youngsters. Serian MP is Dato’ Seri Richard Riot.

Speaking at the celebration of the SUPP 57th anniversary held at the Sa’aithi Hall at the party’s headquarters, Dr. Sim said he wanted the young members to work hard to be nominated and not to be nominated and then work for the people. “I have discussed with the BN leaders so you all must work hard,” he said.

Always showing a good example of going to the ground to serve, Dr. Sim reminded the members that the people have given them a chance in the 11th State election where they won 7 seats out of 13 contested.

He said by showing their appreciating and gratitude, the party must go to work with the people and serve them.

“It is too late if you decide to campaign a few months before the election. You must work from now,” he added so that they will be heading towards the glorified days as in the past.

Saying this is a good time to rejuvenate the party, Dr. Sim called to all members to unite and then they can unite all the Chinese in Sarawak.

He believed that the party will grow from strength to strength by working for the people.

Secretary general, Dato’ Sebastian Ting, Chairman, Central working committee and Chairman from different branches and members from the central region and norther region were at the party to share the joyous occasion.

The Party leaders jointly hoisted a flag before shouting the unity call of Sa’ati  and cutting a birthday cake. Dr. Sim also requested the members to shout the warrior cry of the Dayak “ooh-ha” which to him is a cry of unity too.
