Milton: Our SGH is in bad shape
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party Pending branch deputy secretary, (SUPP) Milton Foo urged the Sarawak general hospital administrative department to deal with the hospital lifts which had been broken the last few months.
Foo in a press conference said he had gone to visit a party comrade a few months ago and saw that out of the six lifts, three were broken and one was used for emergency by doctors.
“That left only two of the lifts in working condition which is really taxing for the elderly, the sick and children who were forced to walk up the floors,’ he said.
Foo said he had gone to the Administration department to check out the problem and was told that the lifts are old and the department is waiting for the federal fund to change the lift.
Just recently Foo was at the hospital to visit someone when he saw that the lifts were still not changed or repair yet.
He said lifts should be maintained frequently to prevent them from breaking down. It showed that there was no proper maintenance or else it could not be three lifts breaking down at the same time.
Foo hoped that before the admin should at least repair the lift to prevent congestion and misery to the people who visited their friends or relatives while they are waiting for the fund to change the lifts.
A number of people, he said, complained not only about the lifts but also the parking.
