Opar should be given to SUPP – Riot
Press Statement 12 April.
There is no reason for not allocating the state seat Opar to SUPP which is one of the component parties of Barisan Nasional (BN), said Deputy President of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Dato’ Sri Richard Riot Jaem intensely.
It is groundless for BN to hand over the seat to others on a silver platter as the former state assemblyman Ranum Mina was appointed by SUPP to stand in the past state election.
Niphoni and Billy Sujang were the two winnable candidates that recommended and appraised by SUPP.
Candidate of Simanggang Datuk Francis Harden Hollis and Organising Secretary Datuk Matthew Chen Thin Kong also attended the rally which attracted more than 500 attendees. Dato’ Sri Richard had made an appeal regarding this issue during the rally of constituent in Opar.
Candidates recommended by SUPP are all from grassroots and extensively welcomed by them. Opar was traditionally a contesting constituency of SUPP, appointed by Dato’ Sri Richard.
“It had proven that SUPP widely affirmed and welcomed in Opar because more than 2,000 local residents had joined the party in the past two years.”
