Joint Raya and Ngiling Tikai celebration at SK Bintang

Piasau State Assemblyman, Dato’ Sebastian Ting who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party Secretary general, praised SK Bintang for building a bond between teachers, parents and students.

Invited to the school join celebration of Raya and Ngiling Tikai this morning to officiate the double celebration, Ting said it is a good sign to see such festivals jointly celebrated between parents and teachers. “This beautiful gathering is not only to make merry but there is an significant aspect of the celebrations…. how we Mirian of all different races and religion come together to celebrate each other celebration with mutual respect and love. This is something that we should never take for granted. We need to instill in our younger generation and show them that we are all anak Sarawak and we live together in harmony. This is an important legacy we need to nurture our children,” he said.

Ting thanked them for inviting him and voting him in during the last State election. He added that he was grateful and appreciated all their prayers.

Also at the function was the newly installed Mayor of Miri, Adam Yii.
