MPP Chairman, Tan Kai inspecting the clogged drains in Taman Chingnion, Batu Kawah
A residential house where food preparation was done for their business was found to have cooking oil directly discharged into the drain caused severe blockage.
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Chairman, Tan Kai said complaints were forwarded to the council from members of the public.
MPP Health and Enforcement department were at the site to check on the complaints.
Tan Kai who was with the team said a
Warning notice was served and they will come back two weeks later. If the food waste and oil discharge continues, he said compound summon will be issued.
Warning all households in Padawan, Tan Kai urged them to be more courteous and health conscious for the environment. He said these offenders are staying in the same area too so why do they want to put up with smelly polluted drains. He added that clogged drains also cause flash floods and breed pests.
The council, he said, will not take lightly on the issue.
