Milton Foo Helps Woman Who Was Conned Into Using Her ID As Mule Account

SUPP Public Complaint Bureau Chief, Milton Foo assisted a 37-year-old woman from Padawan who works in a coffee shop and is now facing criminal charges after her identity was misused to open bank accounts linked to scam activities.

The woman, Bong, had befriended another woman in her 40s last year. In October 2024, the friend asked to use Bong’s IC to open an account for her son in his 20s. Bong agreed, believing it was for personal use. Her IC was photographed, and she was asked to sign digitally, but she never received any card or bank statements.

Foo said on August 27, Bong received a lawyer’s letter demanding RM15,500. Police later informed her that her accounts had been used for illegal transactions involving more than RM600,000. She has since lodged police reports, claiming she never borrowed or collected money from anyone.

Her case was highlighted by Foo, who said it was a clear mule account case under Section 424(C) of the Penal Code. He urged the public not to share their ICs and called for stricter banking procedures to prevent scams.

Foo said it will be a long journey ahead for her to clear her name and asked her to lodge another police report for investigation.
