Closing Ceremony of MyLesen B2 Programme at Batu Kitang

The MyLesen B2 Driving Licence Assistance Programme in Batu Kitang has successfully helped 579 participants from the B40 group obtain their motorcycle licences, said Batu Kitang assemblyman, Dato Ir. Lo Khere Chiang.

He explained that the programme, introduced in early 2024, was aimed at easing the financial burden of low-income groups in securing a valid motorcycle licence.

“I wish to congratulate all participants who have completed the required training and passed the tests. Today’s closing ceremony is proof of your success and commitment,” Lo said at the event officiated in Batu Kitang this morning.

Lo also reminded new licence holders to always prioritise safety, quoting Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg’s words: “Do not use the road to race, that is my only request.”

“The impact of road accidents is severe from loss of lives, serious injuries, disabilities, to economic costs. Malaysia records about RM19.7 billion in losses annually due to road accidents, according to MIROS,” he added.

He called on participants to be role models in practising courteous and responsible driving, in line with the government’s aspiration to reduce road fatalities by 50% by 2030.

“I urge all recipients of this programme to use their new licences wisely and to help change the culture of road users towards greater tolerance and discipline,” Lo said.

The Batu Kitang assemblyman also expressed appreciation to JPJ Sarawak, the Batu Kitang Service Centre, Institut Memandu MKM Bhd, and all agencies involved in making the programme a success.
