Kho Teck Wan urges DAP Chong Chieng Jen to stop making excuses on his inefficiency

Premier Office Political Secretary, Kho Teck Wan Statement urged Sarawak DAP Chairman, Chong Chieng Jen to stop making excuses and lying to the people of Sarawak.

She said this was in regard to the allocation of funds for the Kuching Flood Mitigation Plan where DAP not only lack sincerity in taking practical actions to secure the funding for Sarawak but also constantly politicizes, confuses, tarnishes, misleads, and even deceives the people of Sarawak on the issue of floods.

“Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Datuk Seri Dr. Sim Kui Hian, revealed during the recent Sarawak State Assembly that the statement made by the Pending State Assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen about the federal government’s allocation of RM150 million for flood mitigation was misleading. In reality, the Sarawak Irrigation and Drainage Department only received RM6.9 millions for land acquisition. This proves that the tactics used by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) to exploit the issue are merely for political propaganda, without any sincere effort to secure the funding for Sarawak. Instead, they blame Sarawak Government for it, ” she said.

She pointed out that according to Dr. Sim during a recent working visit to the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, the Federal Minister explained that there have been changes in the federal government’s procurement process and apologized for the changes that led to delays in the implementation of the Projek Pembangunan Lembaga Sungai Bersepadu (PLSB) Sungai Sarawak. The matter will be brought up to the Minister of Economy during the federal cabinet meeting, as promised by the other party.

Kho asked Chong Chien Jen not to continue to find excuses for the unresolved issue of the Kuching flash floods, and even try to shift the blame to the Sarawak government as this only shows DAP’s incompetence and lack of will to help Sarawakian.

She hoped that DAP representative, who has held the Kuching and Stampin parliamentary seat for decades who have not taken any significant action, even during the reign of the Pakatan Harapan government, to solve the issue of flash floods in Kuching. Furthermore, she added that, during the previous Pakatan Harapan government’s administration, Sarawak DAP had failed to stop the PH government from canceling or caused delay to various development and infrastructure projects in Sarawak.

“Beside the RM150 millions budget approved by federal government before 2016. After serving as a federal and state representative for many years, Chong is unable to implement flood mitigation projects or secure additional funding for Sarawak. This clearly demonstrates the lack of actions and capability, ” she said.
