Drainage upgrading along Jalan Field Force

Deputy Premier, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian went to the ground with DID Sarawak engineers to look at the site of 1.2km monsoon drains upgrading along Jalan Field Force which is part of RM140 million drainage upgrade and flood mitigation for Batu Kawa funded by Sarawak Gov under 12 MP.

Dr Sim said 46% preparations on this RM12 million has already open tender despite delays by utilities relocation by SEB and need an additional RM124 million from Sarawak Government under the 12MP mid term review in view of cost increase after COVID19 and increase scope in view of climate change.

Flood mitigation, he added is under concurrent list (both state and federal Gov) of Malaysia constitution. Though in recent years, Sarawak Government managed to increase the state revenue, it doesn’t mean that we keep on using our own money and Federal keeps giving funding to others.

He said Sarawak MP must realise they are Sarawakian, elected by people of Sarawak to fight for fair share of Federal funding for Sarawak. Otherwise they fail their duty as MP from Sarawak as it is Federal Government obligation and responsibility to give to Sarawak as Sarawak entitlement.
