Proposal for a one-stop diabetes centre in Miri
A dinner hosted by Diabetes Malaysia Miri (DMM) recently raised more than RM65,000, which would go for the proposed one-stop diabetes centre project. The state government has also declared Monday – Sept 4 – a public holiday. Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian praised local councils, especially in Miri and Sibu, to protect the environment by introducing more greens to the environment. 砂人联党将在来届全国大选派出6名新面孔上阵。 砂人联党主席拿督沈桂贤表示，在上届国选竞选的7个国会议席当中，人联党输掉6个，因此，很肯定的是来届国选会在这6个选区派出新人上阵。而西连国会议席将继续由现任议员拿督斯里里察烈上阵。 他是主持巴达旺警区哈芝节派发牛肉活动后，这么表示。 他强调，人联党要派出最好的候选人上阵国选，同时也要确保新一代领袖可以获得上阵机会。 “我一直说，只要自认有胜算和能力，都可以选择加入人联党。” 无论如何，沈桂贤强调候选人的最终决定权是在首相拿督斯里纳吉。 询及现任州议员是否会上阵国选，沈桂贤表示，这机率不高。
峇哥中公迁校有望今年内落实
砂地方政府及房屋部长拿督沈桂贤表示，峇哥中公迁校计划有望能在今年内落实。 他在出席佛林匹克运动会开幕仪式后，于受访时表示，教育部长原则上已经批准峇哥迁校，目前有待官方批文正式发出，便能开始执行各项后续工作。 “教育部长原则上已经同意（迁校），上一次过来（砂州）已说过会尽快批准。” 不过，他坦言，即使取得批文但峇哥中公新校的建设工程也许耗时二至三年才能完成，因此有足够时间让教育部物色足够的师资。 他指出，他将会继续跟进峇哥中公迁校的事宜，而且新的校地已鉴定完毕，学校蓝图也准备妥当，一旦批文正式发出，相关单位便能即刻展开后续工作。 “目前学校蓝图已经有了，只要批文正式下来，接下来的事情就容易办了。” 无论如何，沈桂贤希望峇哥中公迁校的计划能够在今年内开始进行。据了解，峇哥中华公学新校地位于三马拉汉区。
沈桂贤：欢迎议会推出环保措施
砂地方政府及房屋部长拿督沈桂贤欢迎任何环保的努力。 不过，他表示目前其部门尚没有计划立法禁用塑料袋，因为这课题尚未明朗化。 他欢迎各砂拉越各个地方议会自行推广及探测落实的程度，毕竟只有议会才了解能够落实的程度。 他赞扬诗巫及美里市议会积极推广向塑料袋说“不”的决心，以配合联邦政府推崇的使用可生物降解产品的措施。 询及古晋地方议会是否会效彷一事，沈桂贤表示，该部门欢迎任何环保的做法及努力。与此同时，他也鼓励其他地方议会效彷，共同响应环保及再循环措施。 “只要是对环境保护利好的措施，砂拉越地方政府及房屋部一律欢迎！若强制禁用塑料袋，基于未做好任何准备的情况下，可能会面对措手不及的问题。” 沈桂贤续说，在国内有一些州属尝试禁止使用塑料袋，但没能成功，因此，砂拉越将会改以鼓励的方式看待此课题。
沈桂贤捐1万令吉予美里糖尿病分会
砂地方政府及房屋部长拿督沈桂贤捐献1万令吉予马来西亚糖尿病协会美里分会，作为该会日常运作基金及筹建会所资金。 人联党卑尔骚区州议员拿督陈超耀代表沈桂贤，将捐款移交予马来西亚糖尿病协会美里分会主席陈超梅及秘书张旗何。 目前，马来西亚糖尿病协会美里分会仍在寻求政府拨地兴建会所，同时正在展开筹募会所资金。该会将继续举办活动，以筹募更多资金。
沈桂贤出席哈芝节活动
配合哈芝节，石角区州议员拿督沈桂贤于昨日（9月1日）造访其石角选区的清真寺和祈祷室，参与穆斯林同胞的宰牲仪式，并与众人交流，了解地方上课题和发展需求。 沈桂贤在首长署政治秘书陈开、公共投诉局主任叶耀星及石角服务团队的陪同下，前往石角警察普通行动组、石角第一期廉价屋清真寺、甘榜登雅双溪祈祷室、上湾头甘榜清真寺、甘榜旧新纳布迪祈祷室及甘榜实打博祈祷室。 在今年哈芝节，他总共派发11头牛予选区上的清真寺及祈祷室。
