Dr Sim: Giving the people what they want

SUPP is calling to the people to give their feedback on the changes they wanted the government to make, be it State or Federal and the party will push for the change in policies.

After a four-hour meeting chaired by the President, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian said the party is now reaching out to the people to get the changes they wanted thus discussion and feedback from the people are important.

Dr. Sim said SUPP is for Sarawakian and SUPP is serious to bring about the change needed for the sake of the people.  The launch on June 4 “SUPP for Sarawakians” is not merely a slogan or talk only.

He said in the four hour meeting, they were talking about how best to help the people in time of difficulty. “We are seriously viewing the effect of GST has on the people, we want more for Sarawak people. Be it to ask for a decrease of 4% GST or anything on oil and gas or getting back Bintulu port for Sarawak, we are game for it,” he said.

He said on Friday night, the Barisan Nasional (BN) Supreme council held its meeting until midnight and a number of issues were brought up by the party on the plights of Sarawakians.

“Anyone can contribute ideas, be it in social media or Facebook of any SUPP leaders or to meet us when we start our rounds all over Sarawak to hold discussions. Come forward with your contribution, your ideas and we will continue fighting for you all,” he said.

Calling to all those to meet the party leaders while doing their rounds soon in the next two or three months, Dr. Sim said from the feedback, they will push forward the change with either the State or Federal government. Even on Sarawak taking over Bintulu port was discussed in the BN Supreme council meeting.

“We are serious about the government making changes through the effort of SUPP. “Thus your feedback, what you want, how you feel about things, let us know,” he added.

He said the party has even set up a committee on oil and gas to be headed by Adam Yii with its Secretary Dr. Abdul Kuddus. The members are Datuk Mathew Chen, Johnny Pang, Sih Hua Tong, Tan Kai, Lucas Lim and Danny Banjang.

The objectives, he pointed out, was to safeguard the oil and gas resources of Sarawak, to optimize Sarawak human resources in the field, to optimize business opportunities for Sarawakian companies in the State oil and gas industries, to take over Bintulu Port and Samalaju Port, to understand the working of Sarawak government body in monitoring the implementation on 2.2 billion of contracts, to appoint SUPP representative in this body.

At the meeting were Secretary general, Dato’ Sebastian Ting, Datuk Dr. Francis Harden, Woman chairman, Datin Jennifer Chee, youth Chairman, Tan Kai, Padawan Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang and branch Chairmen.
