Datuk Sebastian Ting Urges Chen Clan Members to Treasure Health and Family Bonds

Piasau State Assemblyman and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sarawak, Datuk Sebastian Ting, who also serves as the Permanent Honorary Advisor of the Miri Chen Clan Association, has called on members of the clan to treasure both their health and family ties.

Speaking at the welcoming dinner of the association’s 30th anniversary celebration held at Mega Hotel Miri last night, Ting expressed gratitude to the organising committee for their months of dedication and to clan members from across the nation for their strong participation.

The dinner was attended by representatives from 25 branch associations from West Malaysia and Sarawak, creating a grand atmosphere that reflected the Chen clan’s unity.

“Health is an irreplaceable wealth. Your body belongs to you, and you must take care of it yourself—others cannot do it for you. Especially after 60, it is important to exercise and maintain good health, not only for yourself but also as a form of care for your family and those around you,” he said.

Ting reminded clan members that siblings and children are God’s arrangement, while a spouse and in-laws are a matter of choice, and therefore time spent together should be cherished. He also encouraged them to value friendships, saying, “Being happy with friends benefits everyone. When you return home happy, your family will also share that joy.”

Sharing his own example of family values, Ting said, “In terms of property, I have already made a will to ensure every child is treated fairly. Every day, I give my family a hug and a kiss and tell them ‘I love you.’ Parents will feel comforted by this as well.”

He extended his warm welcome and appreciation to the clan members who travelled from afar to join the celebration and once again thanked the organising committee for ensuring the event’s success.
