Sarawak has the autonomy, says Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian
SUPP Batu Kawa candidate, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian assured Sarawakians that there is no issue in Sarawak despite the political turmoil in West Malaysia.
Dr. Sim said there is news of extremisms, alcohol sales and issues of Timah, an alcoholic drink of which the name was said to be similar to that tof a Malay woman but in Sarawak, we do not have issues at all. He was referring to the Federal government requirement for coffee shops to obtain a licence to sell beer starting next year.
“This is because alcohol sales in Sarawak have autonomy as Sarawak has the Local Authorities Ordinances. Dealing with the West Malaysia problem is not my job as I am not a Member of parliament. Besides, what happened there has nothing to do with us,” said Dr Sim who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president
He said in Sarawak and Sabah, we also have autonomy on Imigration and Sarawak has been selling alcohol for such a long time already without disturbance from any party.
“Look at Sarawak Disaster Committee Management (SDMC). Unlike West Malaysia, we have a say in our own way to tackle covid 19.
Our policies here maintained a racial harmony, respect for one another’s religion unlike them where “Timah’ can be used as an issue.
He urged Batu Kawa voters not to be taken in by the opposition’s fiery band of politics where they used emotion and talking to win over the voters.
Dr Sim is defending his seat in a four-cornered fight with DAP’s Kelvin Yii, Chai Kueh Khun from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and Fong Pau Teck from the Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi).
