Cr Tnay Li Ping settles illegal rearing issues

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Cr Tnay Li Ping and MPP enforcement team went back to a retiree’s house at Jalan Arang to check if he still continued to keep his Japanese Bantam chickens.

Lim kept over 25 Japanese Batam chickens said he has sold them off after being told to get rid of them by the enforcement team a week ago.

Several complaints were made by neighbours of the foul smell of chicken feces coming from the row of terrace house.

Tnay told Lim that they will do ad hoc checks in his compound.

She said the enforcement team had visited the house many times since Christmas last year and advised him to stop rearing dozens of chickens in the backyard as the smell attracted flies and emit foul smell.

Lim said he has been rearing the ornamental chickens for the past eight years as a hobby but there was no complaints in the past and was unable to sell them off due to the pandemic.
