Kho Teck Wan says everyone’s duty to protect racial harmony in Sarawak

The list of Sarawak state assemblymen who signed the petition to the federal government to withdraw the appeal against the high court ruling declaring the ban of using Allah by non Muslim as unconstitutional had conveniently left out most of the GPS political leaders, said SUPP Central Woman’s Chief, Kho Teck Wan.

She said further verification with some GPS leaders confirmed that the bipartition petition never reached their hands and they were not aware of such petition which appeared to be initiated by PH-UPKO member of parliament YB Wilfred Madius of Sabah.

Kho wondered why started a petition that claimed to represent the voice of political leaders in Sarawak and Sabah yet left out the signatures of all the prominent political leaders of Sarawak ruling parties?

“This leaves a bad taste in my mouth when the bipartisan statement was followed by the released of press statement from Micheal Kong of DAP Sarawak who claimed that GPS and SUPP leaders had conveniently neglected to show their support in the bipartisan call. It is then apparent to me that the bipartisan petition wasn’t for the fight of freedom to use the word Allah but to discredit GPS leaders. By purposely dropping the GPS leaders from the petition, DAP’s selfish intention to disturb the racial and religious harmony in Sarawak for its political agenda is apparent and disgusting, ” she added.

She hoped that DAP politicians will stop playing fire with race and religion once and for all as racial and religious harmony are so precious and unique to Sarawak and it is the responsibility of all Sarawakian to protect our unity.
