Piasau Camp Nature Park
Governor of Sarawak, Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud officiated the earth breaking ceremony of the Piasau Camp Nature Park yesterday, witnessed by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem, President of Petronas , Tan Sri Shamsul, Shell MD Lain Lo, Datu Wee Yaw Hin, Senior Vice president of Petronas, Datu Sudarsono and Datu Len Salleh.
Chairman of the Piasau Camp Miri Nature Park Society, Dato’ Sebastian Ting said the earth breaking ceremony was a great success with over 800 people from all walks of life joining in.
He said the Piasau Park is a great gift from the Sarawak Government to the people of Miri who can go there for walks, jogging and enjoy the natural beauty of the park.
The whole area of the park is 88.5 hectares. Petronas and Shell gave RM5 million each to work with the Forestry department to come up with a Master plan to turn the present Shell housing Piasau camp into a Piasau Nature Reserve.
