Cake Making Theme Competition

Cr. Bong Lian Huan from Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) (Kuching Branch) call to historian to ensure that history books give a true picture of Sarawak and Sabah’s partnership in forming Malaysia with Malaya in 1963.

Bong who was representating Datuk Lily Yong to officiate the opening ceremony said the present history books did not portray a true history on the involvement of Sarawak and Sabah. “These should be rectified to give a correct picture so that the younger generation will know the meaning of the dates of Independence and the formation of Malaysia and other significant dates in the country,” he added.

On another matter regarding the Election commission re-delineation proposed exercise, Bong said democratic ways must be considered and taken into account on redrawing the boundary as it would have a negative effect if one particular race was to cover all the constituencies or the effect of gerry mandering. This, he added, would not be healthy to Malaysians as a whole.

Earlier on reading Datuk Yong’s speech, he said Yong has stated that baking for the young is a good way of fostering relationship among the participants and that she hoped that such creative activity would be an annual event.

Yong also said this year’s cake making theme is on Malaysia which can help the children understand the patriotism of being a Malaysian and how Malaysia was formed.

Also at the function was the youth chief, Stanley Lau, Woman Chief, and Peter Pau.
