Residents worried of collapsing culvert following heavy downpour
Teng Ung Woo paid a visit to Sg. Kesa on Tuesday after receiving complaints from local residents on a culvert in the area. Teng who is political secretary to the Chief Minister, was told that due to the recent heavy downpour, soil erosion caused the side of the wooden culvert to collapse. The villagers are worried that the soil erosion will damage the road and cause it to be impassable for them. Teng said he will bring the matter to the authority concerned to have a proper drain done.
Assistance for fire victim in Sg Kesa village
An elderly man aged 60 and his mentally-ill son lost everything after his wooden hut was razed by fire on Monday in Sg. Kesa village, Sarikei. Teng Ung Woo, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister heard of the incident and paid a visit to the elderly man. He went with personnel from the Welfare department. 砂人联党领袖与党员于今早在党总部，向已故前任党主席丹斯里拿督巴丁宜黄顺开致敬。 载着黄顺开灵柩的队伍，是今早从丧府出发前往三一堂进行追思礼拜之前，途经王其辉路，在砂人联党总部停下，接受砂人联党领袖与党员献上最高敬意。 在场的人联党领袖首先将党旗盖在灵柩车上，这是人联党的传统，表达对前任党魁的最高敬意。 之后，在两名前任党主席，分别为拿督巴丁宜陈康南医生和丹斯里陈华贵的见证下，人联党秘书长拿督陈超耀和副主席拿督李景胜将党旗移交予杨守勤，在场还包括黄顺开长子黄祈亮、长女黄祈美和幼女黄祈琳。 多名人联党前任和现任领袖，包括前任秘书长拿督沈庆辉、前任财政拿督邓伦奇、巴都吉当区州议员罗克强、中央青年团团长兼首长政治秘书陈开、妇女组主席拿汀徐美丽以及来自全砂各个支部的领袖皆出席今早仪式。

砂拉越州元首敦丕显斯里泰益玛目、首席部长拿督阿玛阿邦做哈里、副首长拿督阿玛道格拉斯和詹玛欣是今日前往凭吊已故前人联党主席兼第一副首长丹斯里黄顺开的达官显要。 其他凭吊者还包括州立法议会议长拿督阿玛阿斯菲雅、州内阁成员和前任副首长丹斯里阿弗烈查布。 黄顺开遗孀潘斯里杨守勤与家属，在位于达闽路的丧府迎接众达官显要的到来。 阿邦佐哈里在向记者发言时表示，已故黄顺开于1974年加入政坛，后者是其中一名协助团结当时华社，为人联党和州政府带来稳定的重要领袖。 他说，黄顺开于70年代是国会议员，而在80年代之后，他加入当时首长已故敦阿都拉曼耶谷的政府，之后跨入泰益玛目领导的时代。期间，黄顺开成功扮演其角色，带领华社参与政治主流当中。 他表示，黄顺开当时牺牲作为一名外科医生的专业，毅然从政，只为了团结砂拉越华社，让华社永久性参与砂拉越的发展议程当中。 他形容，黄顺开是一名非常谦虚及有原则的领袖，在其领导下，人联党非常团结。 “他（黄顺开）要华社不止参与政治主流，还希望华社为砂拉越的发展扮演角色。”

罗克强：巴达旺四个高架大桥今年动工
砂人联党巴都吉当区州议员兼巴达旺市议会主席罗克强披露，巴达旺市议会辖区内四项高架大桥工程将在今年动工，预计会在2020年竣工，预计耗资2亿令吉。 一旦竣工，民众将在毋须苦等红绿灯的情况下，一路衔接至西连地区，有效解决恼人的交通阻塞问题。 他指出，有关四项高架大桥工程为泛婆大道工程中的其中事项，分别是位于4哩、6哩、9哩及10哩。 其中，9哩与10哩的架空大桥预计会在今年的6月开始动工；而4哩及6哩的工程则会在8月动工。 罗克强是主持完该议会的常月会议后，如是表示。 他指出，一切相关架空大桥蓝图等都已在进行中，相信这对时常使用上述道路的使用者来说绝对是个好消息，一旦有关四座架空大桥完成后，日后驱车直上西连的驾驶者都可以不用再面对等候红绿灯的问题，因为有关道路将会笔直而上。 罗克强续称，实际上，除了上述四座架空大桥外，还有另外两座则位于西连，不过，由于涉及地点不属该辖区范围，所以他并没有多加声明。

为了悼念已故前任党主席丹斯里黄顺开，诗巫人联党于甘榜拿督路党所底楼设立追悼场所，供党员及支持者前往悼念已故党领导人。 这个追悼场所是从昨日起，至本周六开放让党员和民众吊唁已故黄顺开。 另一方面，人联党武吉阿瑟区支部主席钱本统表示，已故黄顺开担任副首长时，为诗巫做出贡献，尤其是武吉阿瑟区。 为此，他建议诗巫可以有一条路，或者一栋建筑物，是用“黄顺开”来命名之，以作为纪念。这么一来就可记念他曾经作出的贡献。

SUPP leaders paying their last respect
Secretary general of SUPP, Dato’ Sebastian Ting led SUPP state Assemblymen and leaders to pay a last respect to the late Tan Sri Dr. Wong Soon Kai yesterday morning. Former Sarawak deputy chief minister and ex-Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president, Dr Wong aged 90 passed away yesterday morning. Wong had served as deputy chief minister between 1994 and 1996, passed away at his residence in Jalan Tabuan here about 4am. Wong’left behind his widow, Puan Sri Jane Yong, his three children and grandchildren.
