Senator Datuk Dr Sim’s thoughts on Merdeka Day
Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian urged all to appreciate what our forefathers who fought so hard for the independence of our country had done. He said this when commenting on his feelings of Merdeka Day.
“Today we not just celebrate but continue to build our country as a nation for all Malaysians culminating on Malaysia Day. All Malaysians on the eve of 57th Independence should more important than ever ask “what you can do for the country and not what the country can do for you”.
Sim also called to all Sarawakians to continue living in harmony despite our diversified culture, race and religion as the closeness among us is something that has been nurtured through the years. “It is something so valuable that we cannot afford to lose,” he added.
