Tan Sri Peter Chin on the coming TDC

SUPP President, Tan Sri Peter Chin hoped that there will be no contest for the Presidential post come this Triennial delegate’s conference in September as he wanted to leave the party with an impression of a united and strong party going with confidence into the next election.

Speaking to reporters after chairing the Central Working committee (CWC) yesterday, Chin said SUPP being a democratic party may have a contest but it is the Central leader’s wish that they would be able to work things out without facing a contest. He called to all CWC members to be moderate, reasonable and to look at the bigger picture.

He said should there be any contest, it will be a brotherly one and not a destructive one.

He said since the last TDC 2011 of which the party has plunged into a debacle of  internal squabbles and the incidents with the Registrar of Society, it was bitter but the whole incident left them more stronger and mature to face challenges.

On the opposition calling them a dinosaur party, Chin said from all parties, there are a mixture of young and old. “You can see from the branches election, it was not not true as we have new young leaders emerging. In any party transformation they will always be a mixture of old and new and we have been around for 55 years so we can’t have an all old and an all new leaders. We need a good mix,” he added.
