Wilfred Yap inspects Kpg Stutong with DID
Kota Sentosa State Assemblyman YB Wilfred Yap today visited Kampung Stutong Iban together with officers from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) to inspect the completed drainage upgrading project implemented under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
The completed RTP 2024 project involved the upgrading of the existing earth drains to reinforced concrete drains aimed at improving water flow, reducing soil erosion and mitigating the long-standing flash flood issues faced by villagers in the area.
During the site visit, Yap expressed his appreciation to DID officers, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and residents for their cooperation throughout the implementation of the project.
According to him, the completion of the project demonstrates the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s continued commitment towards resolving basic infrastructure issues and improving the living conditions of the people.
At the same time, Yap was pleased to announce that another RM300,000 under RTP 2026 has been approved for Phase 2 of the drainage upgrading project at Kampung Stutong Iban BDC.
He added that the Phase 2 project is expected to commence soon after DID completes the necessary technical drawings and documentation process.
The additional allocation will enable further upgrading works to be carried out in other critical sections within the village drainage system to ensure a more comprehensive and long-term solution to flooding problems.
Yap stressed that he will continue working closely with relevant government agencies to ensure development projects in Kota Sentosa are implemented efficiently and according to schedule for the benefit of the rakyat.
