Padungan Launches Joint Dengue Prevention Campaign

Padungan has launched a joint dengue prevention campaign following an increase in dengue cases in the constituency.

SUPP Kuching Branch Youth Chief, Nicholas Wung said the rising trend has raised concern among the authorities and the community, making preventive action more urgent.

He said the campaign was jointly organised by the Kuching Health Department, the District Office, community leaders and the Sekama JKKK as a collective effort to curb the spread of dengue.

An information booth was set up at Fuyu Coffee Shop where members of the public were briefed on the dangers of dengue, methods of transmission and preventive measures.

Educational flyers and larvicides were also distributed to encourage residents to eliminate mosquito breeding areas in their homes and surroundings.
Wung stressed that dengue prevention requires cooperation from all sectors of society and not only government agencies.

“Public awareness and participation are equally important. Through programmes like this, we hope to strengthen community knowledge on mosquito control and work together to create a healthier and safer living environment,” he said.

He added that the campaign received an encouraging response from local residents, with many coming forward to seek information and collect mosquito prevention supplies.
