Team Work Is The Key To All Successes, Say Sebastian Ting
The spirit of youth volunteerism was highlighted at the 2025 Appreciation Dinner organized by the Persatuan Prihatin Masyarakat Miri (PPMM), held at Boulevard Chinese Restaurant here on Monday.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting, said the success of welfare programs depends on the strength of teamwork, which can foster a sense of care and togetherness in the community.
He emphasized that every form of contribution whether time, effort, or financial support has a significant impact when mobilized collectively to help those in need.
According to him, the community needs more volunteers, especially among the youth, as they are the agents of change who make Miri a warm, caring, and inclusive city.
“Young people, with their sincerity, are the greatest asset in this community,” he said while delivering his welcoming speech, urging more youths to join charitable efforts through associations or community activities.
Meanwhile, Miri City Mayor, Adam Yii, said involving youths in volunteer work is not an easy task in the modern era, filled with numerous entertainment options.
However, he noted that PPMM has successfully attracted their interest to get involved on the ground, including in more challenging rural areas.
He explained that this commitment demonstrates the leadership qualities and sense of responsibility among Miri’s youth.
He also praised PPMM for nurturing a team of active and dedicated young volunteers, describing them as a positive force for the city’s development.
“Miri needs more young people who are independent and willing to contribute to society,” he added.
The event also aimed to celebrate the contributions of volunteers and strengthen bonds among PPMM members, while highlighting the association’s role as a driving force for local community welfare.
