CCTV Installed at Batu Kawa Riverfront
The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party’s Batu Kawa branch is pleased to announce the installation of CCTV at Batu Kawa Riverfront to monitor the safety of the area and park users.
The branch believes this is an important step in implementing the three key areas of safety, comfort, and cleanliness, striving to create a more livable and technologically advanced urban environment.
The park is equipped with 15 solar panels, 33 cameras, and 12 loudspeakers. The camera feeds are connected to two monitoring centers: the Padawan Municipal Council and the Batu Kawa Riverfront Security Center.
The installation work at Batu Kawa Riverfront began last month and was officially opened recently. The project was funded by a RM400,000 grant received by the Padawan Municipal Council under the national Smart City Early Adopter program.
Batu Kawa Riverfront has become a popular destination for morning exercise, leisure activities, and community events. Enhancing the safety and property protection of those visiting or using the park’s facilities is crucial.
Batu Kawa District Councillor Datuk Amar Sim Kui Hian not only actively promotes local development but also prioritizes creating a comfortable living environment. Currently, not only has CCTV been installed at Riverside Park, but similar systems have also been installed in other areas.
The implementation of CCTV systems not only effectively prevents crime but also helps authorities quickly grasp the situation in the event of accidents or emergencies, improving law enforcement and response efficiency.
The installed public address system also provides instant notifications in emergency situations, reminding the public to be safe, making it a key component of smart public spaces.
Many people who frequently exercise in parks are pleased and feel reassured by the CCTV system, especially during evening walks or early morning workouts. Knowing that the system is operating also gives their families greater peace of mind.
The branch believes that this initiative demonstrates Sim Kui Hian’s commitment to public safety and public well-being, and hopes to expand it to other community parks in the future.
