Kampung Pulau Melayu Community Celebrates National Day And Malaysia Day
The JIWA @ MADANI community programme was held on Saturday at the Kampung Pulau Melayu community hall in conjunction with the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
The programme, jointly organised by the Miri Information Department and the Kampung Pulau Melayu community, highlighted unity and active community participation through activities centred on family, arts and village life.
In his speech, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak and Piasau assemblyman Sebastian Ting thanked the Kampung Pulau Melayu community for their close cooperation in making the celebration a success, saying it reflected the unity and patriotism of Sarawakians.
“Such celebrations are not just annual events, but serve as important platforms to strengthen community ties and promote the spirit of patriotism,” he said.
The programme featured a range of activities, including a children’s colouring contest, motorcycle decoration competition, patriotic quiz, the 2025 National Day motorcycle convoy, as well as a symbolic flag-hoisting ceremony involving government agencies and residents.
A prize-giving ceremony and lucky draw hosted by Councillor Lawrence Low added to the festive atmosphere.
The celebration once again showed that National Day and Malaysia Day are not only about commemorating history, but also about fostering unity among Sarawak’s diverse communities.
