YB Wilfred Yap Donates RM20,000 and Canopy to Support SJK Chung Hua Stampin, Sungai Tapang
Kota Sentosa state assemblyman Wilfred Yap presented a RM20,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant to SJK Chung Hua Stampin, Sungai Tapang, to assist with the school’s building fund and infrastructure upgrades.
In addition to the cheque, he personally donated a new canopy worth RM850 to replace one that was recently damaged in a storm. Though modest in cost, the canopy reflects his prompt attention to the school’s day-to-day needs, helping ensure students remain sheltered and safe in various weather conditions.
In 2023, he channelled RM40,000 in MRP funds to the school, of which RM30,000 was used for minor repairs and student activities, while RM10,000 went towards the building fund to support the construction of new classrooms and facilities.
Under the 2024 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), he also secured RM50,000 for the construction of a waiting hut, fence repairs, and upgrades to other school amenities projects that have helped improve the learning environment and safety for both students and teachers.
To support digital education, he added that a previous MRP allocation of RM10,000 in 2022 was used to purchase computer visualisers and related tools for five classrooms, allowing the school to better integrate technology into its teaching.
“These contributions may vary in size, but each is a step forward in building a safe, inspiring, and nurturing environment for our children,” said Yap.
He said today’s RM20,000 grant and canopy donation reflect his commitment not just to long-term development but also to the school’s immediate needs.
“As a representative of the people, I believe in responding with both heart and action. Whether it’s providing a grant or donating a canopy, I will continue doing my part to help where I can,” he added.
Wilfred Yap said he remains committed to making full use of available government resources such as the MRP and RTP to uplift the education sector and improve the wellbeing of the Kota Sentosa community.
