Miri Mayor Adam Yii launches Water sports at Luak Esplanade

Mayor Adam Yii welcomed the launch of water sports activities at Luak Esplanade, calling it an exciting step for the city’s recreational scene. The soft launch event, managed by Sandbox Recreation Sdn Bhd, introduced a variety of outdoor activities aimed at promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome all of you to the soft launch of water sports at Luak Esplanade. Today marks an exciting moment for Miri, as we introduce new outdoor activities that bring adventure, relaxation, and enjoyment to our stunning shoreline,” Yii said.

He highlighted that the initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being. “Engaging in outdoor recreational activities promotes physical fitness, reduces stress, and improves mental well-being. Whether it’s feeling the rush of movement on the water, embracing the thrill of speed, or simply enjoying the fresh sea breeze, these activities encourage a healthier and more active lifestyle,” he added.

Yii also said the social benefits of the initiative. “Luak Esplanade is not only a scenic destination but also a place where families, friends, and visitors can gather, share laughter, and create lasting memories,” he said, expressing hope that the launch would mark the beginning of more exciting activities in the area.
