MPP Chairman, Cr. Tan Kai site inspection of Ro-Ro Container Situation in Padawan
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Chairman, Cr. Tan Kai, conducted an inspection of Roll-On-Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) containers provided by the Council for waste disposal during the Chinese New Year Eve today.
The inspection aimed to ensure effective waste management despite challenges caused by continuous rain and increased waste disposal activities.
During the inspection, Tan Kai observed several challenges. Continuous rainfall caused water to collect inside the Ro-Ro containers, limiting their capacity for waste. The rainy weather has also slowed down rubbish collection services, resulting in temporary delays. Additionally, some residents were found to have discarded their rubbish outside the containers instead of placing it inside, despite the Council’s efforts to provide adequate facilities. Tan Kai emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable and urged residents to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness.
He said the rubbish collection schedule, which is planned for daily operations, has been slightly delayed by a few hours due to the weather. To address this, Tan Kai has instructed MPP officers to take immediate action on containers that are already full to ensure waste is collected promptly and does not inconvenience residents further.
During his visit, Tan Kai also issued verbal warnings to scavengers who were seen rummaging through the containers. He reminded them that such activities not only disrupt the waste management process but could also pose safety and hygiene risks.
Tan Kai also reminded the public of the importance of responsible waste disposal, especially during the festive season.
“Maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility. While the Council provides facilities and services, we need the community’s cooperation to use them properly. Let’s work together to keep Padawan clean and welcoming during this festive celebration,” he said.
