Youth shape the future of tourism, says Datuk Sebastian Ting
Youths can help to shape the future by promoting and implementing tourism practices, said Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts at the awards-presentation ceremony for the Sarawak Youth Talent 2023 contests at a shopping mall.
Ting who is also the Piasau State Assemblyman said the youths who can influence thier peers and community can contribute to the development of tourism policies.
He said 42 per cent of Sarawak’s 2.8-million population consisted of youths and this group represented a knowledge of creativity and vitality that can be tapped into.
Ting assured that the ministry is committed to empower the youths with necessary skills, tools and opportunities and the Ministry can listen to their ideas, understand their concerns, as well as to integrate their voices into our policies and decisions.
The Sarawak Youth Talent 2023 contests was organised by Sarawak Research Society of which there were 501 submissions this year for poster designs and one-minute TikTok videos in promoting responsible behaviours towards the diverse natural environment.
