Anti-hoping law, a collective efforts by all, says SUPP Woman Central Chief

SUPP Woman Central Chairperson, Kho Teck Wan saluted the Minister of Law Datuk Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar for working on the amendment and pushed the Anti-hoping law through to ensure it is passed and effective before the upcoming parliamentary election.

The Yang Di-Pertua Agong approved the effective date of the Anti Hoping Law on Tuesday Oct 5.

Kho said she was appalled to received a flyer from PH and DAP stating that the Anti-Hoping Law was an effort by Pakatan Harapan.

“It is an dishonest and misleading claim since most of us are aware that any successful amendment of federal constitution requires 2/3 of parliamentarians support, passed in the senate and approved by the king. It is a collective effort by all parties involved,” she said.

To clarify, Kho pointed out, Wan Junaidi tabled the anti-hopping law and passed in Parliament on July 28th this year. It was passed in the senate house on August 9th. It then received the royal consent from the king in august, and gazetted in September 6.

Wan Junaidi managed to get the law passed and effective in his 13 months tenure as Malaysia’s Law Minister. For Pakatan Harapan to claim credit for the passing of the law when they didn’t even table any amendment during its 22 months in power is down right disrespectful to all who work so hard on the amendment bill. We are living in a digital age where facts and figures can be easily found in the internet by even elementary school children. So I humbly request that PH and DAP find cheap publicity somewhere else, she added.
