Political Secretary to Premier, Tan Kai attend to complains of pig carcass carelessly thrown
Political Secretary to Premier, Tan Kai check at a site at Jalan Stakan, off Lorong 10, where a few bags of rubbish believed to be pig carcass were thrown by scrupulous person.
He urged members of the public not to throw the carcass in such a manner, be it on land or river. The bags emited strong foul smell.
Tan Kai said he had alerted Trieneken and the Veterinary Department to clean up the rubbish.
“There is an outbreak of African Swine flu and if the dead pigs are not disposed off in proper manner, the virus will get worst. Please, do not be irresponsible as a dirty environment affect all of us,” he said.
He added that the debries stewed at Stakan were disposed off. The Sarawak Veterinary enforcement were also seen at the site to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, illegal dumping of pig carcass were sighted at Sungai Semenggo 2 again yesterday where 12 sacks were seen floating on the river. Bags of dead pigs had been thrown into the river for a few consecutive days.
Tan Kai said relevant agencies are looking into the outbreak of pig swine flu.
He added that the authorities were taking out the pig carcass from the river and disposed of them in proper procedure by burying them.
The enforcement from Sarawak Veterinary Department, he added, are making their rounds and if those caught will face heavy punishment.
