SUPP Sec gen, Datuk Sebastian Ting warns youth to be cautious when accepting jobs oversea
SUPP has been working closely with the Criminal Investigation Division of Miri District Police (CID Miri) on the recent syndicate that lured Miri individuals to work in Cambodia and the Philippines, said Secretary General of Sarawak United Peoples party, Datuk Sebastian Ting.
He said a few reports from family members of the victims have prompted the police to launch the investigation.
“The Police has informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Interpol on this matter and are working together to investigate the case. SUPP on the other hand, with the assistance from MOFA and the Interpol is in the work to help victims return to Malaysia safely and we are grateful on the assistance provided by these agencies, ” he said.
Ting added that Police and SUPP are frequently in touch on the updates of investigation and tracing the victims in both countries.
As the police is in the midst of investigation, he said he would like to advise members of public to refrain from making any speculation that will affect the case.
He urged any person that has been affected by the syndicate is urged to lodge a police report to the nearest police station and call for cooperation from everyone on this matter and to allow the police to conduct its investigation without fear or favour.
