Archbishop Simon Poh hands over the PPE and masks to Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian at SGH

The Catholic Church in Sarawak donated PPE gowns and N 95 face masks for medical frontliners this afternoon.The items included 10,000 pieces of KN95 facemasks and 6200 pieces of SMS Isolation medical gown for hospital use.

Archbishop Simon Poh said since last year when Covid 19 pandemic, he made an appeal through the live-stream Sunday Masses to procure PPE SMS Isolation gowns and KN95 Facemask for medical use in Hospitals.

“With the generous contribution from Catholics and friends through Sarawak, Malaysia and even overseas, we were able to raise the fund needed to procure 10,000 pieces of KN95 facemasks and 6200 pieces of SMS Isolation medical gown for hospital. Together with my brother Bishop Joseph Hii of Sibu and Bishop Richard Ng of Miri, we offer these as our small gesture of support and prayer for the safety of our medical front-liners who are serving throughout Sarawak during this COVID19 wave, “he said.

Poh thanked Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian and the Sarawak General Hospital Director Dr. Ngian Hie Ung for making the arrangement to receive the PPE Gowns and facemasks. He thanked two volunteers, Alan Tay and Kelvin Chin for transporting the items to the hospital.

The handover was at the lobby of the Blood Bank. Poh encouraged all Christians and friends of goodwill to give Blood to save life.
