New stretch of roads for Batu Kawah

The whole stretch of Batu Kawa road’s first phase upgrading works will be completed by beginning of next month, said Local Government and Housing Minister, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

This project is part of Dr Sim’s appeal from Federal Works Ministry which cost nearly RM 4 million to upgrade the whole stretch of Batu Kawa Road. The upgrading works itself cost RM 1.5 million which included road surface upgrade and installation of road center steel barrier.

Dr. Sim said the upgrading works is from Batu Kawa- Matang traffic light junction till Datuk Chong Kiun Kong Bridge.

Currently, he added, JKR Sarawak had completed resurfacing gravel and first tar layer works, second tar-seal layer will be done by beginning of next month.

There was delayed in works in the completion as some workers were quarantined due to covid-19 cases and Trenekens’ workers’ quarantine also caused delay on debris clearing schedule.

He advised road users to be extra vigilant while using the road during road construction.
