MPP Enforcement unit wearing camera cam increases efficiency and integrity
Enforcement department of the Padawan Municipal Council(MPP) who wear camera cam during their duty is a win-win situation, said Padawan Municipal chairman, Lo Khere Chiang.
Lo said the recordings were saved under a huge data storage base in MPP which will serve as useful record in case evidence is required for prosecution cases or otherwise.
He said this also protects the enforcement unit especially if there were disagreement on situation on the ground.
MPP, he said, is currently monitoring the performance of our grass cutting contractors using whatsaps called Nemosys which is part of MPP’s AI initiatives.
“We are going to extend this monitoring system to monitor our many projects this year. Our enforcement officers have been wearing this cam recorder since September 2020 and recently with the upgrade of our internet lines to UNIFI, we have upgraded our body cam to an online system where we have a command centre at our MPP office to monitor the movements and activities of our enforcement officers and their engagement with the public, ” he added.
Local Government and Housing Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian’s wanted all local governments to enhance their services via digital technology as he said it is part of the Council proactive move to monitor the conduct of the officers when on the field. The recordings, he added will be used as reference or evidence should any untoward incident takes place and at the same time to increase the integrity, efficiency and transparency of the enforcement officers when dealing with the public.
