SUPP Central Organising Secretary Dato Mathew Chen on PSB

PSB’s recent announcement on setting up its Southern Urban Taskforce, helmed by presidential council member Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How – whether its purpose is to solve grassroots’ issues or just for election publicity purposes is obviously the latter, said SUPP Central Organising Secretary Dato Mathew Chen.

He said in a press statement that PSB president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh is a senior politician leader, who has been the elected representative for so many years, and was the cabinet member in Sarawak government who hold deputy Finance minister and Infrastructure minister post, yet he never purpose setting up of such similar Urban Taskforce to tackle grassroots’ issue ? Will this be considered he had failed his duty when he was appointed as minister and had a chance to serve Sarawakians?

Chen pointed out that SUPP is wondering why PSB set up a Southern Urban Taskforce instead of one in Sibu as Wong is a representative of Bawang Assan constituent, does PSB tell us that Bawang Assan constituent no much grassroots issue as compare to Kuching (Southern region)?

He added that be it Urban or rural areas, there are still issues faced by the community, and it needs the cooperation between various government agencies to resolve it, but not just by few people to set up an organization to handle it.

“SUPP welcomes any organization’s attempt to solve community’s issues through various channels, but it is obvious that the PSB’s Southern Urban Taskforce is just main for gaining political publicity only,” he added.
