Gawai visit
In the spirit of Gawai festivities, SUPP party President Tan Sri Peter Chin and Dato’ Sebastian Ting continued with their Gawai visit, this time to the Chairman of the SUPP Disciplinary committee, Datuk Tanyuh, open house.
A group photo was taken with his wife Datin Jennifer, three sons, from left Peter, Dr Simon and Andrew.
Also visiting them was Senator Dr. Sim Kui Hian with Woman Chief, Tnay Li Ping; Woman’s Secretary, Mdm Ling Ngar Yien; Youth Chief, Cr Tan Kai, Youth Secretary, Cr Wilfred Yap as well as Kapitan and Penghulu.
Sim also paid a visit to the local community leaders at Sg Apong Kampong’s Dayak community, Kuching. The visit reflected the success story of 1Malaysia as about 40 years ago, these people had occupied the land they were staying illegally. It was subsequently given the title by his late father Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong.
The community did a lot to help themselves as every house now has at least one graduate and went on to become teachers, engineers, etc. To continue to show their success stories, it is noted that in every of these new modern houses, at least one will be able to speak Mandarin, apart from Iban and Bahasa Malaysia, which is a true reflection of 1Malaysia.
There is also a program to cultivate organic farming on parts of the private land that are not used and this has turned into a very successful “urban farming”.
Their present small Balai (community hall) is going to be made bigger through a gotong royong project soon.
