Tiang: do not be colonised by Malaya
Sarawakians should reject all Malayan political parties including PPBM from coming into Sarawak as we don’t want to be colonized by Malaya.
SUPP Youth Central Chief Michael Tiang issued a press statement today in response to the news that PPBM has set up their first branch in Kuching. According to Tiang, although there is no law to stop Malayan parties from coming over to Sarawak, by allowing or bringing Malayan political parties into Sarawak is viewed as a first step for Malaya to further colonize Sarawak.
He acknowledged that a Malayan political party is also able to serve Sarawakians in many people’s issues like any local based parties do. “But when it comes to issues on Sarawak’s sovereignty, a Malayan political party will always choose to be on Malayan’s side and only listen to the orders from their HQ in the Peninsula. This is always the case.” said Tiang.
Tiang welcomes Sarawakians to serve in politics by forming new local based political parties or joining any existing local based parties. But by bringing a Malayan political party into Sarawak aiming to govern Sarawak is a bad notion altogether,” Tiang emphasized. “Imagine that, how would a Sarawak Government tightly controlled by Malayan political parties ever be interested or allow any agenda for Sarawak’s sovereignty?” “If our Sarawak Government is a government taking only orders from the Peninsula, this is what we understand as colonization.”
Tiang further pointed out that when Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties were part of Barisan Nasional, their stand was strictly no Malayan member party should enter into Sarawak to establish branches. He is therefore very disappointed with the fact that there was no one from PH Sarawak who dares to say No to PPBM’s plan of coming over to Sarawak to set up branches. “Perhaps this is another blatant example whereby for one to be part of a Malayan political party, you are meant to be subservient to the masters in the Peninsula.”
