Reading glasses for senior citizens
SUPP Piasau branch Women section distributed nearly 700 pairs of reading glasses to citizens aged 35 years and above at Persiaran Kabor yesterday. The recipients were all of different races and age group.
Women section member, Betty Pong said the event was held in conjunction with International Women’ Day to raise awareness on the importance of taking care of eyesight. Last week 60 pairs were given out.
The event is more of an awareness campaign to educate the elderly and those approaching that age to take better care of their own eyes.
Those who came to apply for the eye-glasses have to undergo an eye-screening conducted by a volunteer certified optometrist.
Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, was also present to support the event and he was happy with the good respond.
