Health Department excellent service award
A total of 836 staff of the state Health Department received excellent service awards yesterday.
They comprised those from the southern zone – Kuching, Samarahan, Serian and Sri Aman.
Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian presented the award during the gathering held at Penview Convention Centre here.
Dr Sim who served the Ministry of Health from 1998 to 2011 said the recipients should see the award as a reward for the good work done apart from its monetary value.
The award is not only meant to recognise and acknowledge their excellence but also to motivate them to enhance their leadership skills.
Dr Sim added that the recipients ought to regard themselves as leaders at their workplaces.
He said they should go the extra mile and strive for excellence instead of work for the sake of getting salaries.
On another subject, Dr Sim said there were many requests from the ground in as far as enhancing healthcare services and facilities was concerned.
One of the requests is to equip the 84 clinics across Sarawak with treated water, which the government ‘will be sure to fight for’.
