Remembering Tok Nan
Datuk Sebastian Ting, Piasau State Assemblyman, who is also SUPP Secretary general, led party leaders to the graveyard of the late Chief Minister, Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, to commemorate his first anniversary yesterday afternoon and to hold a vigil at the Padungan Cat statue at night. Flowers were brought to the graveyard and there was a minute of silence at the cat statue where candles were lit.
Ting said they wanted to express their gratitude to Adenan for his many people friendly policies and to remember him.
“Tok Nan will always be in our hearts and we missed him a lot. He will always be remembered for carrying out so many policies for Sarawakians despite a short tenure of his leadership,” said Ting.
He added that Tok Nan understood the hardship of the ordinary people by abolishing tolls, lowering assessment rates, electricity tariff, recognizing UEC, putting English as one of the official language in Sarawak and fighting for autonomy.
Remembering how he had gone to such an extend to help SUPP by ensuring that the party was not de-registered in 2014, Ting said it was due to his help that SUPP has grown for the better and won back seats in the last State election.
The event was organised by Pending and Kuching Branch.
In Miri, a huge crowd also gathered to commemorate the occasion.
