Helping out flood victims in Salim
SUPP Bukit Assek Mobile Service Team responded to the needs of flood victims in Salim within two hours after they received a distress call.
Bukit Assek Branch chairman Chieng Buong Toon said nearly 1,000 victims from eight longhouses needed their help. They managed to round up several essentials and foodstuff and went down to the ground to give out assistance.
Chieng said he is concern for the residents as a majority of them are daily paid workers and without working due to the flood, it would affect their income.
There are 12 longhouses in Salim under the Bukit Assek state constituency and eight of them – Rh Joseph, Rh Mary, Rh Dampi, Rh Ngipa, Rh Mathartan, Rh Matan, Rh Bagin and Rh Kidin were affected by the flood.
The food and drinks given out include rice, beverages, salt, bread and biscuit.
