“Lanterns Of Unity” Procession on Saturday 17th September 2016
Sarawak Minister of Local Government Senator Datuk Professor Dr SimKuiHian had agreed to officiate at the “Lanterns Of Unity” Procession on Saturday 17th September 2016.
This was following the invitation by the organisers SUPP Pending (Womens Section), SUPP Southern Zones Women Section and Sara UrushartaSdnBhd when they paid him a courtesy visit today.
According to Dr Sim, he invites all communities to fully support this community event, as it is an excellent opportunity for everyone to celebrate Kuching as a City of Unity. He looks forward to the event and hopes the city will be filled with colour of light on September 17th.
In conjunction with the Mid Autumn Festival, 3000 free lanterns will be distributed to members of the public in Kuching to participate in the “Lanterns of Unity” procession.
Members of the public can collect the free lanterns from the sponsors which are Sarawak Plaza, TunJugah, UTC, and Riverside Shopping Complex from 630 pm onwards. The parade will commence at 800 pm. The route is about 1 km.
The lanterns will be distributed on a first come first served basis. There will be lucky draws and also entertainment for members of the public.
Participants can also bring along their own lanterns and wear traditional costume to showcase-our richculture and diversity.
