Dates to remember on Merdeka Day
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Dato’ Sebastian Ting who is also the State Assemblyman for Piasau reminded Sarawakians not to forget the interest of Sarawak and to educate the younger generation of the actual date of how Malaysia was formed.
He said the three significant dates included 22nd July 1963 Hari Sarawak Independence Day (some say Self Rule) of Sarawak, 31st August 1957 Independence Day for Federated States of Malaya and 16th September 1963. Malaysia Formation of Malaysia..
Ting said SUPP also participated in the celebration this year which centred in Sri Aman.
He said Sarawakians should appreciate the harmony among different races and religion and this is something Sarawakians themselves should maintain, he added.
