沈桂贤：母亲离世显示砂急需完善癌症医院
砂拉越副总理拿督阿玛沈桂贤表示，其母亲潘斯里拿汀阿玛沈林素卿的离世，再次提醒砂拉越亟需建立一家完善的综合性癌症医院，以加强早期筛查与综合治疗。 沈桂贤透露，几个月前母亲被确诊患有结肠癌，让全家震惊，因为林素卿一直定期接受结肠镜检查。他说：“虽然医生说三年内检查结果都正常，但仅仅15个月后，癌症就出现了。这表明我们绝不能掉以轻心。如果出现异常症状，我们必须进行检查，因为结肠癌很常见。” 昨晚，沈桂贤在其府上接受媒体采访时强调，该癌症医院不仅将提供治疗，还将成为领先的研究中心。他指出：“癌症需要大量研究，因为有些癌症类型目前仍无法治愈。” 沈桂贤提及，砂拉越中央医院已获首相拿督斯里安华认可为研究型医院：“首相去年九月访问古晋时亲自授予了这项荣誉。他下车后告诉总理拿督巴丁宜丹斯里阿邦佐哈里，砂拉越中央医院是最好的研究型医院。” 林素卿于去年三月被诊断患结肠癌，并接受手术、化疗及放疗，直至去年十二月。沈桂贤感谢肿瘤科团队及医护人员在家中提供终末关怀，并形容家人在照顾母亲期间更加亲密，孩子们也学会了打针、换尿布及协助洗澡。他表示：“这是一种恩赐，因为我们以前从未有这么多时间在一起。” 沈桂贤进一步指出，母亲灌输给他的高尚家庭价值观，是他决定回到砂拉越为州服务的重要基石：“虽然我们在澳大利亚有家，不用辛苦工作，但我们仍然选择回来，因为父母从小教导我们这些价值观。”
